How it Works - Informing You Congregation (Meeting Needs)

It is important that a large number of needs are posted in your area before telling your members to start searching for needs they can meet. Some churches who launch Meet The Need in a new area even set up Meet The Need such that members only see needs posted by the church – that way they can direct members to specific outreach needs the church wants them to meet, and also avoid members searching and not finding anything yet within particular categories in the local database.

When you’re ready to start telling your congregation about your new outreach capabilities, there are a number of ways you can roll out Meet The Need to your congregation.

Set up Meet The Need to Run Through Your Web Site Expand

  • You can set up the Meet The Need search engine on your church’s web site, which is generally only a 15 minute process. Instantly, your web site will have all of the functionality of Meet The Need, but it will still look exactly like your site! Your church members and visitors will be amazed to see a new "Help Someone in Need" section of your web site complete with a customizable search engine, database, and state-of-the-art account management features!
  • You don’t need to use the name “Meet The Need” anywhere on the site unless you want to – it’s about your heart for outreach, not ours!

Decide Whether to Roll it Out to Your Members, Your “Teams”, or Both Expand

  • Many churches choose to mobilize their “Teams” (e.g. Bible Study Groups) rather than rolling Meet The Need out all to all members and attendees at first because many people prefer to serve in groups.

Have Everyone Register Under the Name of Your Church Expand

  • Tell your members, attendees and “Teams” to register under the name of your church

Verify You Know Each Individual or Team Expand

  • Verify that each of those are members or attend your church.
  • As soon as you do, each “approved” person instantly gets a dedicated, priority view of all needs associated with your church

Encourage Them to Get Involved in Serving Expand

  • Encourage your congregation to check your web site for local needs to be met (sample text and bulletin inserts are available for your use at www.meettheneed.org)
  • Each time you post a need, every “approved” member of your church gets an e-mail letting them know that you have posted needs and providing them a direct link to see those needs

Your Members and “Teams” Start Searching and Meeting Needs! Expand

  • Anyone can begin searching your web site for any needs they want to meet, then go through a typical “checkout” process to confirm each “commitment” and then receive automated e-mails and contact information about next steps
  • After your members and “teams” complete the delivery of goods and services, they then log back in, confirm their commitments, and provide testimonials on their online outreach account on your web site - all automated using the Meet The Need platform

As the Pastor or a Church Staff Member, You Can See the Impact Your Church is Having! Expand

  • You decide which staff members can access your church’s private Dashboard and see the needs met by your church’s members and “teams”, as well as all testimonials about their giving experiences
  • Authorized users get a complete view of how your church has served the community, including what they did for your church, local ministries, local families, missionaries or even missions work
