How it Works - Teams Overview
Turn Your Bible Study or Men’s and Women’s Groups into Outreach “Teams”
Many people are more comfortable and have more fun serving in groups, so Meet the Need wants to help mobilize “Teams” that already exist with churches (like Bible Study Groups) to get involved in outreach projects. Therefore, we’ve designed Meet the Need to fully equip every group within the church with nearly all of the tools and functionality Meet the Need has to offer.
This also gives your church the opportunity to begin passing down accountability and responsibility to “Team Leaders” for getting your members out into the community to serve others in need. Doing so will further take the outreach management burden off of your staff’s shoulders while increasing the impact your church is having in the community!
Pastors and authorized Staff Members will still get to see all activities of every Team within the church so they can monitor and manage the outreach efforts of all Teams to the extent desired.
Teams Can Find Opportunities to Serve In Local Outreach Ministry
Most churches ask their Bible Study groups or Men’s and Women’s groups to get involved in a charitable service project or two each year. Yet it seems that many of them struggle to find opportunities that fit the skills and interests of those in the group. Members bring ideas to the group from contacts they may have at local ministries, yet oftentimes none of those ideas get the group excited so many end up not doing a service project. Other times, the group does a service project but because it was all based on word-of-mouth, it ends up poorly organized and a less-than-fulfilling experience. With Meet the Need, your Teams can find well-organized opportunities in a wide range of skill and interest areas to do a service project with a local ministry or for a local family.
Teams Can Organize Service Projects
Meet the Need allows your church’s Teams to take their involvement in outreach to another level by empowering them to coordinate their own service projects or mini outreach event. Once a Team has registered on www.meettheneed.org (under the name of your church) and your church has activated that Team’s account, the Team Leader can do almost anything that a church or ministry can do to manage it’s outreach activities. That includes posting resource or volunteer needs for a service project for their Team members, other members of your church, or the community to see. And they will get automated updates when people agree to meet those needs so they’ll know to log back in to their Team’s Dashboard to see if they have everything they need for their service project.
